Bio: Wolfe is an expert in medicinal chemistry and drug design who specializes in antibiotic discovery and development. Her work, performed in collaboration with her undergraduate research students, contributes to the global scientific effort to develop new antibiotics to treat multi-drug resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections that are prevalent in hospital settings.

Expertise: Galaxy Evolution, Intergalactic Medium, Cosmology, Quasars, Black Holes, Data-intensive Research and Education


 
Bio: Lundgren is an observational astronomer studying distant galaxies and quasars (active supermassive black holes). Her research primarily focuses on understanding how galaxies grow and evolve over billions of years through gaseous processes such as accretion and large-scale outflowing winds.

Bio: The author or co-author of seven books, some consider Dan Pierce as UNC Asheville’s “Resident Professional Hillbilly.” His books focus on such diverse topics as the Great Smoky Mountains, moonshine, NASCAR, and America’s public lands.
