Bio: Rhode Ward combines field and laboratory techniques to study the population biology, genetics, reproductive biology, and timing of rare and non-native plant species. She is a fellow with PULSE (Partnership for Undergraduate Life Science Education) and is active in regional and national STEM education initiatives.

Bio:
Langille is a structural geologist who specializes in field geologic mapping and characterizing micro- to macro-scale rock deformation as evidence for regional-scale tectonic processes. She has studied fault systems in the Himalayas, Nevada, and the southern Appalachians.

Bio:
Pleites-Hernandez studies American politics, and more specifically, the extent to which different groups in society are represented in the political process and the potential explanations for variation in said representation. This preoccupation, and his training, have led him to study other related topics, the American electorate, political actors, and institutions.

Bio:
Hyde is an expert on the role of archives and special collections in regional studies research, particularly Appalachian Studies. He led efforts to found the Special Collections Committee in the Appalachian Studies Association, and is founding editor of Appalachian Curator, a newsletter about Appalachian Special Collections.

Couzo uses sophisticated computer models and atmospheric measurements to understand how air pollution is formed and transported at the local, regional, and global level. His research also explores the nexus between conventional air pollution and climate change.
